Gregory Dirkson
Mr. Gregory Dirkson has been an educator in Wallingford Public Schools since 2005 when he joined the staff of Sheehan High School as a high school English teacher. During his eight years as an English teacher, he designed and implemented curriculum for the AP Language and Composition course when it came to the district and created lessons and assessments that engaged students in personalized learning.
Mr. Dirkson joined the district curriculum team in 2013 as the Humanities Curriculum Resource Teacher. As a member of this team for one year, he co-wrote and facilitated the development of new curriculum for grades 6-10 in English, Social Studies, and Art/Music.
In 2014, Mr. Dirkson rejoined Sheehan High School but as an assistant principal. For the next eight years, Mr. Dirkson led the transition for assessments connected to shared skills and redo/retake guidelines and scoring Habits of Work for students, created student-led organizations such as the Emerging Leaders and SAVE Promise Club, and developed new safety measures to ensure a welcoming learning environment for students and staff. After his time at Sheehan, Mr. Dirkson is excited to be joining the Pond Hill Elementary School community as the principal for the 2022-2023 school year. He looks forward to partnering with families and the school community to cultivate a positive and engaging learning environment.
Gregory Dirkson achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Connecticut State University and his Masters in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University. He earned his 6th year degree and 092 Certification in Educational Leadership from Quinnipiac University.
